Posting Cadence

This website doesn't have comments, trackers, or anything of the sort. It's in many ways a very old-school project that I like to work on in my spare time. It's also useful to myself Folks can always reach me by my very-leaked-at-this-point email address.

Frequency

Today I wanted to touch on my posting cadence. Usually at the beginning of the year I'll start with some minimum goal for myself, like posting a couple of times a month. Inevitably, I'll have more things I want to talk about than that, and so I'll keep scheduling these more and more into the future.

My personal rule is that I try not to post into the following year until around December. Instead, I increase the frequency of posts, usually starting around November and working my way back.

The practical effect is that the first months of the year have a post every other week or so, and then the last few months are much more tightly packed.

Last year I decided in December to have a longer chain of posts around using opus, and that gave us the 'Fun with opus series' which is still going on and has detoured into managing build, tests and what-have-you. That got changed in all sorts of ways, in big part because development turned out to be harder for odd practical reasons - my desktop doesn't usually have a microphone available, my laptop isn't the most convenient device for development, and for whatever reason I ended up decided this would be a Windows thing so I need to deal with audio feedback when I'm on a single device.

In closing

All in all this is quite a bit of fun. I hope it's useful to someone out there, but I'm not just writing into the void but also for my future self. I know for I fact I do refer to my own posts to refresh my memory every now and again, so much so that I ended up spinning up the wiki section.

Happy posting and happy reading my friends!
